- The Role Lumen offers a fully immersive, 10-week summer internship program. Our interns demonstrate curiosity, innovation, and a passion for advancing technology. We believe that empowering our people and helping them reach their full potential is essential for the long-term success of both Lumen and our customers. Program dates: May 30 – August 8, 2025. ## Location
- This position is ideally hybrid in the Denver, CO area. Potential for remote work. ##
- The Main Responsibilities This position is in a software development team that focuses on products and services aimed at telecommunications customers. Services may be deployed in the cloud as part of a public networking platform or as part of a private service delivery framework. The team is part of a larger agile product development group within the CTO organization involved in the Lumen innovation process.

- Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship
- Graduating August 2025 – May 2027
- Preferred fields include bur not limited to: Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (May 30 – August 8, 2025)
- US work authorization is required.
- Programming Knowledge: A solid understanding of Java programming language, including syntax, data types, loops, conditionals, and exception handling.
- Object-Oriented Programming (OOP): Familiarity with OOP concepts such as inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, and abstraction.
- Data Structures and Algorithms: Basic knowledge of data structures (e.g., arrays, lists, stacks, queues) and algorithms (e.g., sorting, searching).
- Development Tools: Experience with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) like Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEA, and version control systems such as Git.
- Database Fundamentals: Understanding of SQL and basic database operations, including CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations.
- Web Technologies: Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as familiarity with web development frameworks such as Spring or Hibernate.
- Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and debug code effectively.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment and document code clearly.
- Learning Attitude: A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning new technologies and methodologies in software development.
- Experience with APIs: Understanding of RESTful APIs and how to interact with them using Java.
- Familiarity with Testing: Basic knowledge of unit testing frameworks such as JUnit or TestNG, and an understanding of test-driven development (TDD).
- Exposure to Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development processes.
- Knowledge of Build Tools: Understanding of build tools like Maven or Gradle.
- Basic Knowledge of Cloud Services: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. ## Compensation Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual’s level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role. Hourly Based Pay Range:

- Salary Min: 26
- Salary Max: 43 This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation.
