Each year, Arup seeks out students from around the world for our summer internship program. We look for diverse students with inquisitive minds and the desire to challenge themselves. Our interns learn quickly, are natural problem solvers and thrive on innovation. You will work alongside talented professionals and contribute to the success of real projects. In addition to on-the-job experience, we offer learning sessions with top leadership, site visits to local projects and social events.

The Opportunity
- Developing design thinking, spatial design, and concept development. Navigating design solutions that are aspirational, innovative, and technically feasible.
- Presenting concepts, ideas, and technical material in analogue, digital, and innovative ways to influence a wide range of stakeholders including technical and non-technical audiences.
- Conducting design research and background investigations that provide context to site locations and relevant urban strategies and policies.
- Supporting the preparation of site plans, sections, elevations, and 3D models.
- Supporting the preparation of project presentations, workshops, visual materials, and coordination and project management activities both within the team and other disciplines.
- Quantitative and qualitative data collection and urban analysis.
- Coordinating with multiple disciplines and working in conjunction with project managers, architects, planners, and engineers to help complete assigned tasks.
- Is this role right for you?
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in architecture, urban design and planning, landscape architecture or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in public realm design, the layers of the built environment, city development, and community development.
- Strong interpersonal, empathy, and communication skills essential for multi-disciplinary team-based working.
- Excellent level of graphic, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Premier and After Effects is a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and a 3D Modelling Platform (e.g. Rhino, or Revit).
- Other digital tools are a plus including ArcGIS, Grasshopper.
- Candidate must be eligible to work in the US without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future to be considered for this role.

- New York City Hiring Range \- The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York City, NY is $26.00 to $37.00 per hour. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of New York City, NY will differ.
