The Black Tux is reinventing the formalwear rental industry so folks can show up at their best on the days that matter most. The company designs and manufactures modern rental suits and tuxedos that actually fit—made of 100% wool, ordered online, and delivered for free.
The Black Tux is looking for an engaging Assistant Showroom Manager to help us build our presence in the Chicago area. In this role you will bridge our brand philosophies into a customer experience. You will provide exceptional fitting appointments for formalwear and jewelry and assist customers through various stages of their event life cycle: from look conception to fruition, aiding in styling, event setup, and checkout. As a leader on the team you will develop an expert-level understanding of measuring and fitting menswear and train and uplift your team to uphold appointment standards. You will have a deep understanding of trends in the wedding industry and identify opportunities for optimization.

What you'll do:

  • Prioritize customer experience while keeping the team focused on organizational, operational, and visual standards to support revenue
  • Take pride in TBT and leading by example in showing up for the team and customers
  • Lead by example and use in-the-moment feedback to discuss opportunities to improve or to praise success
  • Support team development by participating in monthly coaching along with the showroom leader
  • Act as the primary point of management and leadership for the team when the showroom leader is not present
  • Actively listen and suggest choices that align with the customer's style with the understanding of how suggestions contribute to team goals
  • Able to effectively diffuse and resolve escalated customer issues
  • Support the planning and execution of team meetings and outings to partner in the development and motivation of the team
  • Understands and can communicate showroom revenue and KPI's to the team
  • Supports manager in building community involvement by sourcing and outreaching to local, relevant partnerships

Who are you are:

  • 2-4 years of experience in a retail or customer service-based industry
  • Believe in exceptional customer service, building great relationships with customers, peers, and employees through stellar communication and follow-through
  • You place high value on being a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Organized and have an eye for the details
  • Passionate about fashion, high energy, and eager to learn
  • Ability to walk briskly and be on your feet for many hours a day
  • Tech-savvy, preferred experience with Apple, Microsoft, and Google Platforms
