This is an exciting time to join. PRIMA, our wireless subretinal implant for geographic atrophy secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD), is CE marked in the European Union following the PRIMAvera pivotal study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Geographic atrophy is a leading cause of irreversible vision loss, and PRIMA has generated significant interest among retina specialists, patients, and the wider ophthalmology community. As we bring PRIMA to patients across Europe, you will join the team building awareness from the ground up and help shape how a genuinely new technology reaches the people it was designed for.
We are seeking a Marketing Manager to execute marketing programs for PRIMA across Europe and contribute to the development of our European marketing strategy. Reporting to the Head of EU Marketing, this hands-on role will drive awareness and adoption of PRIMA with our two key customer groups—healthcare providers and patients—through congresses, professional education initiatives, targeted campaigns, digital and advocacy outreach. The ideal candidate is a strong executor who thrives on getting programs delivered in market, brings strategic insight from the field to inform planning, has proven MedTech marketing experience, and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, early-commercial environment. You will turn the marketing strategy into compliant, measurable programs, feed results and customer insights back into the strategy, and demonstrate commitment to Science's mission. This role can be based anywhere in Europe.
Role Responsibilities
- Execute the European marketing plan for PRIMA and contribute to its development, translating strategy into targeted programs that drive awareness and adoption among healthcare providers and patients
- Build audience-specific messaging, value propositions, and campaigns for retina specialists, ophthalmologists, referring clinicians, and patients and their caregivers, in line with applicable promotional and regulatory requirements
- Lead PRIMA's presence at key European congresses and medical education meetings, from strategic planning and content development through on-site execution and follow-up
- Localize marketing materials across print, digital, and social channels—including German-language content—and manage them through medical, legal, and regulatory review
- Design and deliver healthcare professional education and training programs that support referral pathways, implanting center readiness, and patient identification
- Develop patient-facing awareness programs and build partnerships with patient advocacy groups and low-vision organizations
- Define KPIs and track program performance, sharing market insights and customer feedback to inform strategy; manage marketing budgets and agency and vendor relationships
- Partner with sales, medical affairs, clinical, regulatory, and market access teams to ensure marketing initiatives are compliant, accurate, and aligned with commercial objectives
Key Qualifications
- 5+ years of marketing experience in the medical device (MedTech) industry, including developing and executing programs targeting healthcare professionals
- Proven track record of translating marketing strategy into executed programs that drive awareness and adoption
- Experience marketing to both healthcare professional and patient audiences
- Native German language skills, with professional fluency in English
- Working knowledge of European medical device promotional rules and experience taking materials through medical, legal, and regulatory review
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Life Sciences, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in ophthalmology, retina, or neurotechnology markets
- Experience launching a new medical device or therapy in European markets
- Additional European language skills (e.g., French, Italian, Spanish)
- Experience with digital marketing, social media, and patient engagement programs
