Science Corporation seeks candidates for the senior level position of Director of Operations, Foundry based at the Science Foundry in Durham, NC.

This Director of Operations will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and expanding the market presence of Science Foundry. This Director will be responsible for the Foundry’s success and operations, including ensuring successful manufacturing processes and product development, cultivating relationships with new customers, and driving business expansion. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and leverage industry expertise to guide expansion of the Foundry in alignment with the overarching goals of the company.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversee manufacturing operations from a business perspective including production planning, customer delivery commitments, supply chain management, quality system compliance, and cross-functional coordination with technical teams to meet operational and financial targets.
  • Develop long-term capacity strategies and customer allocation models to optimize fab utilization, revenue, and margins, partnering with technical leadership on equipment expansion decisions and production capability planning.
  • Manage equipment installation, commissioning, and qualification processes.
  • Ensure all facilities meet regulatory compliance, safety standards, and industry certifications.
  • Ensure operational readiness and successful ramp-up of production capabilities.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align Foundry strategy with company objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in multiple market segments.
  • Collaborate with technical, sales, and operations teams to ensure alignment between customer requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to inform strategic decision making.
  • Define and implement the Foundry commercial strategy, including market prioritization, pricing approach, channel strategy, annual sales plans, forecasts, budgets, and performance KPIs.
  • Identify and develop new markets, partnerships, and commercial opportunities; build and manage a pipeline of prospective customers and partners in anticipation of regulatory approval.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders across target markets, including enterprise customers, distributors, and strategic partners; lead commercial negotiations and manage contract agreements.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Product Management on product and commercialization strategies.
  • Analyze competitors, pricing structures, market trends, and competitive dynamics; provide market intelligence and customer feedback to inform continued product development and strategy.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and with key opinion leaders across the industry.
  • Provide performance reports and strategic updates to executive leadership.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administrations, or related field
  • Proven track record of success in business development within the MEMS or semiconductor industry or comparable experience
  • Track record of successful operational ramp-ups and capacity scaling
  • Strong technical acumen with a deep understanding of MEMS fabrication processes and applications
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills spanning construction teams, technical staff, and clients
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with customers and attend industry events
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous working experience in microfabrication or semiconductor engineering
  • Experience in start ups and establishing manufacturing lines
  • Fluency in English required; additional language(s) a strong plus.
