Controller
Paperless Post
Paperless Post is seeking a Controller to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will manage the accounting function and contribute to higher level finance strategy, working closely with department leads across the entire organization. This role reports to the VP of Finance.
You will:
- Manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations for the Accounting department, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, software capitalization, and general ledger
- Oversee month-end and quarter-end close process including journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analysis and financial statement preparation to ensure accounts are timely and accurately reconciled, reported and in accordance with US GAAP
- Prepare the annual financial statements and footnotes in accordance with US GAAP for the independent auditors.
- Supervise the year-end audit process in coordination with the independent auditors and internal accounting staff.
- Collaborate with FP&A on developing and maintaining detail chart of accounts that supports management reporting needs
- Prepare budgets in partnership with FP&A and management, periodic forecasts and variance analysis reporting significant issues to management
- Oversee all aspects of tax compliance including sales tax, federal and state income taxes, franchise tax, etc., with assistance from Chief Administrative Officer and external accounting partners
- Collaborate with other departments to identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Create presentations and reports for investors, third parties, and internal communication
- Help create revenue projections for existing business and new opportunities
- Manage relationships with providers for our payment gateway, tax software, etc.
You have:
- 7-10 years accounting and/or finance experience, preferably in a Controller or Senior Accounting role within a growing organization.
- Experience with Quickbooks a plus.
- Experience managing the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flows for a startup - this is essential
- Strong financial modeling skills
- Expert Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to pull out key issues and translate complex financial issues to leadership and peers
- Proven ability to be both a strategist and a doer
- Ability to handle a fluid work environment and evolving goals and objectives
- Proactive, collaborative, detail oriented, critical thinker
- Masters degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA preferred

The compensation range for this role is $140,000 - 165,000 USD.
At Paperless Post, compensation is based on a number of factors, including geographic location, job-related skills, years of experience, and internal team banding. All full-time offer packages come with a base salary, equity component, and options for fully paid medical, dental, and vision benefits. The range posted here is based on the NYC market and may vary based on candidate location.
