About the Role
As a Hardware Quality Engineer at Latch, you will play a key role in upholding the integrity and reliability of our hardware products. In this role, you’ll lead quality initiatives, conduct comprehensive failure analyses, and design and execute testing procedures aimed at continuous improvement of our products. We’re looking for someone with a maker mentality and a diverse skill set that encompasses everything from data collection and statistical analysis to rapid prototyping to build test fixtures. Your work will be instrumental in shaping the quality and performance of Latch’s products, significantly contributing to our reputation for excellence and reliability in the market.
Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional quality initiatives
- Perform comprehensive root cause analysis on product failures
- Design, monitor, and report results of engineering evaluation tests
- Identify high-risk failure modes in engineering development
- Ownership of product reliability testing
- Ensure products adhere to quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Proactively engage with customers to incorporate field feedback into quality enhancement initiatives
- Ownership of product failure data collection, reporting, and analysis.
Position Requirements: (it's okay if you don't meet a few of these)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a dynamic environment
- Hands-on experience in a hardware lab environment including basic soldering and board modification
- Experience designing and conducting environmental product testing (temperature, humidity, vibration, shock tests, etc)
- Familiarity with embedded systems and electrical design
- Understanding of standard communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, RS232)
- Ability to follow and create procedures for Failure Analysis
- Knowledge of working with large datasets in SQL is a plus
- Position may require occasional travel (<5%) to support testing and reliability functions.
General requirements:
- English and Spanish proficiency are a must. Being a remote team we favor asynchronous written communication; it's important you can communicate your ideas clearly as you will be interacting with other non-native English-speaking coworkers.
- Work from anywhere, with at least 4 hours overlap with Eastern Time (UTC-4)
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly; there will be many uncertainties and questions that will come up and part of your job will be to do the research, present options, and execute.
