About the Role
The VP, Finance is responsible for overseeing Kindbody’s accounting operations, financial controls, and reporting functions across a complex, four-wall, multi-site healthcare environment. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role serves as the company’s most senior accounting leader and a key partner to the executive leadership team.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical accounting expertise, operational rigor, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Human Resources, clinical operations, and senior leadership.
Responsibilities
Accounting, Controls & Compliance
Own all core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts receivable, billing, collections, and month-end and year-end close

Ensure accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP -
Establish, maintain, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud -
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial, tax, and healthcare reporting requirements -
Manage bank accounts, cash balances, and all disbursements
Reconcile all bank accounts and company credit cards monthly
Financial Reporting & Budget Oversight
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for executive leadership

Oversee budget tracking and support financial forecasting and cash planning
Identify material variances and provide clear, actionable analysis
Revenue Cycle & Clinical Accounting
Oversee patient billing systems and accounting processes across multiple clinical locations

Administer EMR-based accounting and encounter systems to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement -
Support revenue cycle operations by analyzing denials, underpayments, and collection trends -
Perform month-end close using EMR and patient billing systems -
Negotiate fee schedules and contracts with insurance carriers
Oversee invoicing and accounting for provider service agreements
Cross-Functional Partnership
Serve as a trusted accounting partner to the CEO and executive leadership team

Collaborate closely with Human Resources on payroll accounting, headcount tracking, workforce cost management, and organizational financial planning -
Support organizational and program operations by ensuring accuracy and transparency of financial data
Coordinate with legal counsel and leadership to review financial terms of contracts and agreements
Governance & Professional Standards
Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA requirements

Stay current on accounting standards, healthcare finance regulations, and industry best practices
Conduct all responsibilities in accordance with Kindbody policies and values
Who You Are
Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or business required; CPA preferred

Experience leading four-wall, multi-site healthcare finance/accounting operations across at least 12 clinical locations -
Minimum of eight years leading teams in healthcare or private practice accounting experience -
Big Four public accounting experience strongly preferred. -
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting -
Hands-on experience with medical billing, revenue cycle accounting, and payer reimbursement -
Understanding of medical coding, third-party billing, and insurance regulations -
Demonstrated experience and established partnerships with Human Resources, with strong knowledge of organizational and program operations -
Highly detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment -
Proficient in accounting systems and financial reporting tools (QuickBooks experience a plus)
Experience in healthcare and multi-entity environments preferred
