The Accounting Manager is responsible for lead or support the successful deployment of accounting systems, processes, and controls across new business initiatives, acquisitions, or system upgrades. This role ensures that accounting operations are aligned with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and business objectives through a strong foundation in accounting principles, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Lead and support end-to-end implementation of accounting processes and controls for new Connected Living business initiatives
- Oversee and perform accounting review of contracts, including significant accounting judgements, to ensure compliance with US GAAP accounting principles
- Provide input into client deal structures and strategic initiatives (i.e. new products/LOB) to optimize EBITDA impact under accounting rules
- For M&A transactions, support due diligence and integration activities for accounting
- Partner and collaborate with cross-functional teams (Business, Business Finance, Actuarial, Accounting Systems Implementation, IT, Accounting Operations, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of accounting requirements into Connected Living business initiatives.
- Engage the Accounting Systems Implementation team on planning, testing, training, and go-live support for the new program.
- Serve as the accounting subject matter expert (SME) on implementation projects, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
- Develop and document accounting memos and workflows related to new accounting processes with identified control points.
- Identify and resolve accounting issues during implementation, escalating as needed to leadership or technical experts.
- Monitor project timelines and deliverables, ensuring milestones are met and risks are mitigated.
- Provide training and support to accounting teams and business users on new processes.
- Partner with Financial Controls and IAAS teams to ensure controls are adequately designed and ready for audits.
- Lead or support other strategic projects/initiatives supporting business growth
Required Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 + years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in an implementation or project-based role.
- CPA or equivalent required
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and financial reporting.
- Proven experience managing or supporting accounting system implementations (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, NetSuite).
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial systems.
