Performance Engineer

The Performance Engineer (PE) reports to the Performance Engineering Manager. The position operates with a high level of independence in project solutioning, software development, and automation improvement initiatives in a world class organization. The position will partner with peers within the Performance Engineering team, and across the Global Home organization to help promote best practice solutions, maximize workforce productivity, minimize waste, and supply value-added feedback. As a trusted advisor to Senior Leadership, the PE supports Performance Engineering leadership to challenge preconceptions, “Business As Usual” (BAU), supplies value-added feedback, and leverages industry-leading best practices for maximum internal advantage.
The PE executes on planned and systematic activities across Global Home as directed by Performance Engineering leadership. The PE will collaborate with peers for ongoing monitoring and assessment of business risk and ensure strategic alignment while maximizing the value impact.
The PE will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to produce efficient and elegant code based on requirements and best-practices set by Performance Engineering leadership.
The PE will be responsible for the development of new processes or applicable logic as well as troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining and improving existing software currently owned by the PE Team and as directed by Performance Engineering leadership.
Requirements:
Level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through one or both of the following:
• Completion of Associates degree or technical diploma in MIS, CS, etc.
and/or
• 1 – 2 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in related
field.
• Must be able to work flexibly, as needed, to meet project milestone
deadlines and/or testing requirements
Preferred
• Knowledge and/or experience within the Assurant Global Housing
Operations Lines of Business or a related insurance banking field
• Knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices of mainframe
and/or client/server applications, analysis, design and programming
• Proven knowledge of one or more programming languages, such as
Power Shell, Python, VB, C, HTML and/or SQL
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Analysis skills for technical problems and solutions of moderate risk
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated through
experience and results
• Proven strategic thinking/planning abilities
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and work independently or as part of a
project team to complete multiple tasks
• Ability to work independently with high credibility
