Process Technician

Under supervision of a Senior Process Engineer or Engineering Manager the Process Technician will be assisting in the development of new processes to support new or current business initiatives. The primary goal of this position is to improve product yield or cycle time reduction for existing processes, or the establishment of yield and cycle time targets for new processes. The other key task for this position will be development of data collection processes and data analysis / documentation in support of the new process initiative.
Primary Job Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Work with engineering team and contribute to process-improvement projects per engineering guidelines.
- Assist in development of new test methods and techniques to evaluate a process.
- Participate in the generation of new ideas to improve existing processes.
- Conduct the tests with great attention to details and document the test steps and results in PowerPoint, Excel or Microsoft Word format to share with engineering team member.
- Utilize optical micrometer and other precision tools to research the new or existing products used on the floor and assist in better understanding of the materials to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
- Capture microscopic images of the products used on the floor and analyze those images.
- Support ongoing operator-evaluation of targeted processes to ensure effective training is taking place and operators are following the established processes.
- Utilize advanced photography techniques to take detailed picture of cell phones and accessories using high resolution digital cameras to identify the cosmetic defects of products, document them and evaluate the reparability of the defect.
- Perform statistical analysis of the data and interpret the test results.
- Research and perform failure analysis on field failures and repair process failures and find the root cause of the failure.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Associates degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent trade school Certification.
- Minimum three years of related tech and customer service experience.
Other Requirements:
- Able to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- The employee is regularly required to sit at their work station and use hands to disassemble, assemble, operate, and repair equipment
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees, leads and supervisor of the organization.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color visions and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations where only limited oral instructions are available.
- Can perform analysis/ work using some independent judgment. Decisions may affect team.
- Ability to use positive interpersonal skills to handle customer problems.
- Must possess oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work scheduled hours required plus overtime as dictated by company.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) for purpose of production documentation creation.
- To perform the major job responsibilities must have computer skills including Microsoft Office with procedure / documentation writing background.
- Has awareness of new technologies/techniques.
- Communicates skills and problem resolution.
- Requires basic arithmetic skills.
- Proven knowledge of CDMA/ GSM / LTE/ RF communications tester use.
- Soldering skills including surface mount rework, shield, and connector replacement experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the wireless data.
- Has a substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
- Wireless manufacturer (OEM) repair certification preferred.
Pay Range:
$18.65 - $29.84Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
