This job is responsible for providing guidance, direction, and strategy for compliance-related processes and procedures for business units at Assurant offering property and casualty insurance products. The BUCL will partner with a cross-functional team to ensure appropriate compliance risks are identified and business processes are appropriately implemented to account for such risks. The BUCL will oversee activities to ensure continued compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of property and casualty insurance compliance risks and associated implementation is critical to this role. This is a remote position.

What will my duties and responsibilities be in this job?

  • Serve as the regulatory compliance liaison for new product and client implementations by providing direction for operational design and setup.

  • Provide compliance direction and feedback as part of new product development.

  • Work with our account executives and clients to execute any regulatory change or moratorium as required by applicable government entities. (Ex. state regulatory changes as well as natural disaster and pandemic moratoriums)

  • Work with the Marketing and Customer Experience team members to produce our customer-facing pre and post-sale materials with the appropriate messaging, positioning, and required disclosures.

  • Support the Legal and Regulatory Affairs team members as well as Compliance leadership to manage the changing regulatory environment & future business direction to ensure that business and functional strategies are aligned.

  • Support the Business Unit Attorneys and Regulatory Attorneys as well as the Corporate Compliance to document and manage risk. This includes identifying risks, controls, and mitigations, tracking mitigation progress and effectiveness, and reporting on compliance risks with the business and leadership.

  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of business strategic and tactical goals and objectives, aligning compliance strategies activities, policies, controls, and Compliance Plan items for targeted business units.

  • Work with the Corporate Compliance team and business unit in preparing for market conduct or other regulatory examinations/compliant inquiries.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in a related discipline

  • 8 + years in a compliance/regulatory role

  • 4+ years of experience setting strategy and direction for Compliance process while providing direction and guidance to various levels of management

  • Strong working knowledge of mobile, retail, connected home, and/or financial services industries, as well as the laws and regulations that impact the business.

  • Ability to gather information, identify linkages and trends, and apply findings to assignments

  • Resolve complex analytical challenges and make recommendations based on analysis

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to professionally address a wide and varied audience, including executive management, both internally and externally

  • Facilitate meetings, and ensure that all viewpoints, ideas, and problems are addressed

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Insurance Industry experience such as Property and Casualty or Extended Service Contract experience is a plus.

  • CCEP (Corporate Compliance and Ethics Professional) certification or other Compliance designation is a plus.

How much should I expect to travel?

  • Travel – 10-25% Travel (if needed)

Pay Range:

$99,200.00 - $165,600.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
