Reporting to the Lead Counsel, Business Legal Division, the legal intern will perform research, draft memorandums, and amendments for our senior staff of attorneys while collaborating on a variety of projects and issues impacting multiple business segments. This is a remote position.

What will my duties and responsibilities be in this job?

  • Work with the in-house legal department on a wide variety of legal matters and disciplines, including, but not limited to: Preparing document summaries and templates of key legal documents, drafting policies and procedures, conducting document reviews and legal research

  • Partner with attorneys to solve problems, assess risks, and propose strategies

  • Assist the legal division with legal research projects and handle other tasks as needed, including, drafting of contractual amendments and memos summarizing research findings and/or opinions

  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Demonstrated skill in reading and understanding case law, contracts, pleadings, and other legal documents

  • Strong computer skills; proficient in PC environment with Westlaw, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to write clearly and be focused on actionable and reasonable results

  • Ability to think critically through recognizing assumptions, evaluating arguments, and drawing conclusions.

  • Some knowledge of insurance and/or service contract industries (is a plus)

  • Some experience with research and analysis of state and federal statutes, regulations, and court opinions on business practices and procedures

  • Ability to maintain composure and deliver results while under pressure managing multiple assignments and priorities.

  • Ability to learn quickly and apply abstract ideas to achieve measurable results.

  • GPA requirement - 3.0
