Assurant has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Investor Relations Analyst!

Reporting to the VP, Investor Relations, this is a critical role, supporting an award-winning Investor Relations program. The Sr. Analyst, Investor Relations is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Investor Relations strategy by fostering relationships with the Investment Community and Executive Management and developing supporting IR communications including: investor presentations and quarterly financial earnings materials (script, news release and Q&A). He/she also will conduct market, industry and peer analysis and manage key investor relations programs such as investor day, marketing and other company-sponsored events, etc.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Assist in Managing Earnings Process

  • Outline IR earnings deliverables calendar based on finance deadlines, Executive Management availability, and IR requirements

  • Support the development of earnings deliverables such as call script, news release, and Q&A documents through continuous revisions; Coordinate with Finance updates to standard presentation, and other deliverables used during/post earnings call

  • Coordinate with outside vendors/communications team to ensure press release and supplement are properly distributed amongst press feeds

  • Constant review of process for necessary changes/improvements

Manage IR Website

  • Maintain and develop Investor Relations website and related content

  • Support website redesign and strategic updates

Manage Investor Events:

  • Develop target invite list of current and prospective shareholders and analysts with the help of market surveillance provider and IR team

  • Collaborate with both internal and external resources to: Draft both agenda and supporting materials, help manage logistics of event including audio visual team and onsite venue staff to determine details/layout of event, assist in facilitation of presentation development and finalization process.

  • Review process post-event to determine necessary improvements for future

  • Events include Annual Investor Day and other company-sponsored events

  • Work with IR management and Executive Assistant to develop appropriate presentation material

Manage External Vendors and Overall Budget

  • Be point person for all IR vendors

  • Assist in developing and updating annual budget

  • Assist in negotiating vendor contracts and services based on budget

  • Ensure appropriate external resources for department needs

  • Leverage information across Assurant, as appropriate

Assist IR Team Developing Investor Relations Events/Calendar

  • Develop comprehensive and effective IR calendar of investor and analyst events for senior management that supports efforts to attract and retain long term investor base. Events include annual investor data, investor workshops, conferences, roadshows, meetings in New York office, etc.

  • Define meeting targets and work with hosting firm to ensure effective manageable schedule and coordinate logistical support including assembling presentation, providing management with information on investors, and coordinating webcast details with Communications department including press release

  • Periodically evaluate effectiveness, peer activity, market and industry dynamics and work with Management to recommend adjustments

Conduct Industry and Peer Research

  • Assist and/or develop ongoing peer/competitive analysis and competitive intelligence to management

  • Special research projects as needed such as comparisons of financial metrics amongst peers and evaluating earnings processes for improvements.

  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyst

Assist IR Management in Investor Targeting Analysis

  • Analyze changes in shareholder base

  • Develop targeting list for investor events and provide feedback to analysts

  • Provide analysis of targeting efforts and prospective opportunities

  • Through discussion with sell side analysts and investors works to build effective schedule of meetings

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • College degree – preferably with a degree in finance, accounting, communication/PR

  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience, in investor relations, finance, and/or public relations knowledge

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Understanding of disclosure laws, SEC and NYSE requirements and sound corporate governance practices

  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong financial skills and analytical skills in analyzing financial statements; solid understanding of finance and capital markets

  • Excellent organizational skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Recognizes and acts upon opportunities; takes initiative; self-starter yet ability to work collaboratively on a team

  • Ability to confidently interact with all levels of management and external investment professionals

  • Demonstrates attention to and conveys understanding of the comments and questions of others

  • Takes action to meet and, where possible, exceed needs or expectations

  • Thrives in an environment of multiple demands, shifting priorities, and rapid change

  • Seeks and welcomes unsolicited feedback, and modifies behavior in light of feedback received

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

  • Some travel required

Pay Range:

$85,700.00 - $143,100.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
