Overview of Position
The CAT Reinsurance Manager is responsible for managing a team of professionals dedicated to providing a superior work product to its internal and external clients. Position oversees catastrophic placement reinsurance accounting and activities.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
In consultation with Director, develop short- and long-term goals and plans for area(s) of responsibility.
Manage and prioritize job duties of direct reports within area to meet various strict financial reporting deadlines
Provide frequent team member performance feedback, including annual performance review
Supervise team in producing accurate and timely CAT, FHCF, Multi-Line, Facultative and corporate reinsurance monthly/quarterly financials in accordance with GAAP and STAT guidance
Review monthly/quarter analytics
Manage team in successful onboard of new, amended and terminated reinsurance agreements
Manage internal and external audits and SOX controls
Review and approval monthly statements, journal vouchers, and reconciliations
Support team cross training to and updates of SOP’s
Support Oracle implementation project by engaging and training team members
Collaborate as liaison with other internal organizational teams: IT, Finance, Actuarial, and Risk Management. Establish and maintain professional working relationships both internally and externally to achieve department, business unit and corporate goals
Responsible for Catastrophic and Corporate reinsurance financials
Responsibility for the work of others
· 1 Lead Accountant
· 1 Senior Accountant
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
5 years of supervisory/management experience in managing an accounting area
Minimum 3 years experience within the insurance industry
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, technical and problem solving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence staff to learn continuously
Knowledge in STAT & GAAP accounting guidance
Strong Excel skills
Oracle and SQL knowledge a plus
Prior CAT experience a plus
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Reinsurance experience
Property & Casualty industry experience
Pay Range:
$82,200.00 - $137,400.00Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
