Director of Risk Product Management

You will play a critical role in helping to ensure that the company’s risk-taking entities are enabled through the GRM products and toolsets to be aware of and manage the risks inherent in their activities and decisions, the impact of their actions on the company at an enterprise level, and opportunities to reduce, mitigate and monitor strategic, operational and financial risks.
You are an integral part of the transformation of Global Risk Management at Assurant. With deep subject matter expertise in GRC software (ideally Service Now IRM product), you are a key leader in establishing the product vision for the Global Risk Management (GRM) team, including the Integrated Risk Management (IRM) Program, developing the roadmap, and overseeing the execution of all relevant facets.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Develop Strategic Vision and Roadmap – 15%
Leverage subject-matter expertise, business acumen, and customer/user feedback to determine the vision for Global Risk Management products and platform
Develop a strategic product roadmap by leveraging knowledge of the product’s value stream and system interactions to identify when new features or product changes are needed to achieve business value
Develops roadmap and establishes resources required to meet business objectives
Product Management, Roadmap Execution & Stakeholder Management – 35%
Own, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog, including the definition of epics and, features; validate user stories and, acceptance criteria to achieve the product vision
Collaborates with a cross-functional team of designers, business analysts, developers, testers, and others to develop and execute against product roadmaps and release plans
Works with stakeholders and development teams to break down epic-level user stories into detail-level stories consumable and testable by a scrum team
Collaborate with User Experience partners in usability testing and the development of the user design
Manage, prioritize, and assess the impact of defects, including providing key input on the decisions to fix or defer
Review, accept, and prioritize feedback and new requirements from project stakeholders
Communicates decisions, priorities, and other relevant product initiative information to appropriate stakeholders
Manage Global Support Model – 25%
Engage business partners in various regions and stakeholders in different cross-functional areas to understand requirements, pain points, hidden needs, and expected outcomes
Lead onboarding of new tenants & regional teams – including managing permissions, providing training, integrating initiatives into the overall roadmap, providing guidance on platform optimization, and developing/maintaining a global execution playbook.
Continuously and transparently communicate with internal stakeholders the prioritization of the product backlog and the status of development efforts via product demos, release plans, and other means
Promote and drive Agile development methodology throughout the work and teams
Reporting & Analytics BPO (15%)
Provides regular, accurate reporting related to platform development & usage
Leverage insights from transactional data to make optimization recommendations to the business and operational functions.
Develops best practices for program reporting internally and to our business partners
Team Leadership/Management (10%)
Leads team to drive the accomplishment of tasks, manages team workload, priorities, and intake, ensuring accomplishment of target dates and quality standards
As part of risk management (2nd line of defense) this role will collaborate closely with associates across Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk, Business Risk, Information Technology, Information Security, Business Segments, and Corporate Functions including Compliance, Finance, Vendor Management, and other risk management offices to perform and support evaluations of the firm’s maturity levels, and integrated risk management approach
Maintains positive relationships with partners and business unit customers both within and across organizations to ensure effective delivery of all programs
Provides complex project leadership between BU management, Management Committee (MCOM) executives, technology groups, legal and compliance, corporate communications, and all external parties including managed service providers, governmental bodies, and regulators
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 7 years of equivalent large-scale program management work experience
A Minimum of 10 years experience in leading cross-functional teams or process improvement initiatives
Product Manager or Product Owner Agile certification
A minimum of 7 years of experience successfully delivering products utilizing an Agile Delivery methodology
A minimum of 7 years of experience in GRC capabilities
Strong leadership and teaming skills
Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize diverse elements of complex projects for people, tasks, communication, change, etc. to drive optimal outcomes and results- strong project management and multi-tasking skills
Ability to excel in a large, matrix environment
Strong attention to detail and focus on root-cause analysis
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated through past experience and results
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Skilled at leading meetings and making presentations
Demonstrated ability to act as a servant leader to ensure the success of product implementation and team effectiveness
Ability to ask the “right” questions without having extensive knowledge in a particular business area
Experience in Risk Management is a plus, particularly knowledge of Operational Resilience, Operational Risk, or control-related background within the Banking or financial services industries
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Experience in deploying products on a global scale is preferred.
Experience collaborating with teams comprised of both on-shore and off-shore models is recommended.
Business acumen to be able to translate business value from a roadmap/vision to tactical execution
Experience with backlog creation and management in common tools (AzureDevOps, VSTS, Jira, etc.)
Prior experience working as a Product Owner and Scrum Master in an Agile Transformation environment
Experience with various Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, etc.)
Hands on experience with process improvement methodologies (Lean, 6Sigma, etc.)
An advanced degree preferred
Risk Management Professional Certifications (ISACA or COSO knowledge) are a plus
Experience with the Service Now’s GRC capabilities, Process Mapping (including SAP Signavio), Fusion, Power BI & Tableau is ideal.
Knowledge of SOX, SOC 1&2, ITGC, PCI, ISO 27001 / 22301 is desired

Pay Range:
$114,400.00 - $191,000.00Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
