Soft Hours is a tea house in New York inspired by the refined tea culture of the Song Dynasty in China.
We bring together tea, incense, flowers, and art to create a space centered around ritual, hospitality, and attentiveness. Our menu features Chinese teas and house made confections designed to offer guests a thoughtful and elevated tea experience within the pace of New York City.
While the atmosphere of the space is calm, the pace of service is fast. We are looking for people who can move with urgency, precision, and initiative while maintaining warmth and composure.
Tea Host
The Tea Host is responsible for preparing drinks, guiding guests through the menu, maintaining service flow, and supporting daily operations of the tea house.
This is a fast paced hospitality role that requires strong multitasking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay organized and proactive during busy service periods.
We are looking for individuals who are both detail oriented and highly operational. Ideal candidates are able to anticipate needs, move efficiently, and maintain consistency under pressure.
Responsibilities
• Prepare tea drinks accurately and consistently according to shop standards
• Maintain speed and quality during high volume service
• Guide guests through teas, confections, and menu offerings
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout service
• Restock, prep, and identify operational needs proactively
• Support opening and closing duties
• Work collaboratively with the team to maintain smooth service flow
• Contribute to a warm, polished, and attentive guest experience
• Prior barista, cocktail, or high volume beverage service experience required
• NYC Food Handler’s License required
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to multitask efficiently
• Detail oriented with high standards for accuracy and consistency
• Proactive mindset and ability to identify tasks independently
• Comfortable working in a fast paced team environment
• Interest in tea, food culture, hospitality, or design is a plus
• Weekend availability preferred
