Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. This role is responsible for preparing high-quality sushi and Japanese-inspired dishes while maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, consistency, and presentation. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of traditional sushi techniques, a passion for hospitality, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities-
Prepare sushi, sashimi, nigiri, rolls, and other Japanese dishes with precision and consistency

Ensure all fish and ingredients are handled, stored, and prepared according to food safety standards

Maintain proper knife skills and uphold traditional sushi preparation techniques

Assist in daily fish breakdown, portioning, and inventory management

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times

Collaborate with kitchen leadership on menu development, specials, seasonal offerings, food cost, ordering, etc.

Monitor product quality and communicate any inconsistencies or issues to leadership

Uphold brand standards for presentation, plating, and guest experience

Support overall kitchen operations as needed, including prep and service across stations

Maintain awareness of par levels and assist with ordering

1+ years of experience as a Sushi Chef or in a Japanese kitchen preferred

Strong knowledge of sushi preparation, fish handling, and knife skills
-
Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification preferred)

Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Team-oriented mindset with clear communication skills

Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
