Overnight Bakery Manager

Steingold's is seeking an experienced Overnight Bakery Manager to lead our overnight production team and ensure every bagel meets our standards for quality, consistency, and craftsmanship.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment, enjoys developing teams, and takes pride in delivering exceptional products every day.

About the Role

The Overnight Bakery Manager oversees all overnight production operations, including dough mixing, shaping, proofing, boiling, baking, packaging, sanitation, and production planning. You'll lead a team responsible for producing thousands of artisan bagels each week while maintaining quality, food safety, labor efficiency, and employee engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise overnight bakery production staff

  • Manage daily production schedules and ensure production targets are met

  • Train, coach, and develop team members on bakery procedures and quality standards

  • Monitor dough quality, fermentation, proofing, boiling, and baking processes

  • Ensure adherence to food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards

  • Maintain accurate production records and inventory counts

  • Coordinate with ownership and management regarding production forecasts and staffing needs

  • Manage labor costs while maintaining operational excellence

  • Troubleshoot equipment and production issues as they arise

  • Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented workplace culture

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of bakery, food production, or manufacturing leadership experience

  • Previous experience managing teams in a high-volume production environment

  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices

  • Ability to work overnight hours consistently

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and working in a physically demanding environment

  • Experience with artisan bread or bagel production is highly preferred

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Schedule

This is a full-time overnight position. Typical shifts begin in the evening and run through the early morning hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
