Zeitlin’s Delicatessen is looking for a Head Cashier to lead service, support our front of house team, and build relationships with our customers.
This role is focused entirely on the floor and guest experience—being present during service, guiding the team, and making sure everything runs smoothly from open to close. This role requires following through on check lists, communicating to management, documenting daily work flows.
About Us
Zeitlin’s Delicatessen is a local Jewish Deli that uses the city of Chicago as inspiration. From fresh bagels, sourdough bread, piled high Deli sandwiches, prepared foods, and more, Zeitlin’s focuses on bringing a unique dining experience to the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Starting as a farmers market stand and growing into a Jewish deli restaurant, Zeitlin’s desires to show Chicago the richness and depth of deli hospitality.
What You’ll Do
- Lead service on the floor during shifts
- Construct daily logs documenting highs and lows of service
- Act as the main point of contact for guests - handling feedback, resolving issues, and building relationships
- Properly restock items on floor
- Train new team members on cashier, barista, and food runner responsibilities.
- Jump in where needed - running food, bussing tables, greeting guests
- Communicate clearly with the kitchen and front-of-house team
- Help uphold service standards and team accountability
- Maintain a strong, positive energy throughout service
- Manage inventory of coffee/tea products
What This Role Is Not
- No scheduling responsibilities
- No back-office admin work
This is a hands-on, service-driven role for someone who thrives on the floor and enjoys connecting with both guests and staff.

- 2+ years of restaurant experience (management or strong lead/server experience)
