JOB TITLE: Director of Education/Career Culinary Arts Chef Instructor-Full-Time

REPORTS TO: Senior VP of Culinary Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:

ICE is seeking a Director of Education - Career Culinary Chef Instructor who is tasked with delivering our award-winning education, and inspiring students and peers alike. A Director of Education models the level of professionalism that is an example to others and takes the time to mentor and train students and faculty. They are emblematic of the best qualities from both the hospitality and education fields.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Motivate and guide aspiring culinary professionals to find their culinary voice.
  • Motivate and guide peers to greater success in teaching and expertise in the field.
  • Train faculty in the curriculum mastery and teaching skill as required.
  • Conduct quarterly curriculum reviews in a committee-based setting with a focus on accreditation requirements, regulatory changes, program advisory committee (PAC) results and industry evaluative needs.
  • Deliver Faculty Development sessions with a focus on skills development.
  • Represent ICE in marketing opportunities and out-of-campus events as required.
  • Represent ICE for on-campus events as required (such as, but not limited to: Open-house demonstrations, special events).
  • Conduct in-classroom demonstrations as required by curriculum.
  • Demonstrate techniques and concepts as required by the curriculum.
  • Deliver clear, concise and organized lectures as required by the curriculum.
  • Assess student and faculty performance through observation and interaction, along with written and practical examinations.
  • Maintain a positive, focused learning environment during class.
  • Assure that classes are conducted in a manner that complies with principles of food safety and sanitation.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
  • Lead faculty department head meetings and faculty orientation as required.
  • Attend and assist at annual commencement ceremony.
  • Other duties as required.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Formal culinary arts education. Must possess a solid foundation of culinary and pastry & baking knowledge, with a strong desire for continued learning.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of culinary experience preferred, with some supervisory responsibilities.
  • College level teaching experience highly preferred.
  • Flexible schedule (weekends and evenings) to accommodate ICE class schedules.
  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required .
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other departments and teams.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000 based on a workload of 420 classes per year
