Wano and Sushi Amane are Japanese dining experiences built on precision, warmth, and hospitality. We hold high standards for guest care, timing, and presentation—creating an environment that feels intentional from the first greeting to the final goodbye.

We’re hiring a Hostess who will support both Wano and our sister restaurant, Sushi Amane. This is a guest-facing role for someone polished, organized, and calm under pressure. In addition to hosting, this position will also provide back server support during service. For the right candidate, this role can develop into a server position over time.

• Welcome guests warmly and professionally; set the tone for the experience

• Manage reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists with accuracy and composure

• Coordinate seating flow with management and the service team

• Answer phones, respond to guest questions, and communicate clearly with FOH/BOH

• Maintain a clean, organized host stand and entry area

• Track special notes: allergies, celebrations, VIPs, pacing, and table status

• Support the dining room during service: water service, clearing/resetting, running support, polishing/restocking

• Assist servers with pacing and table maintenance to keep service smooth and elevated

• Maintain cleanliness and readiness in service areas (stations, menus, restrooms, check-ins as assigned)

• Step in where needed to support the team and guest experience

• 1+ year hosting experience preferred (fine dining experience a plus)

• Strong communication skills and professional presence

• Comfortable multitasking and staying calm during busy services

• Detail-oriented: notes, timing, reservations, and guest preferences matter here

• Team-first attitude—willing to support service as needed

• NYC experience with reservation systems (Resy/OpenTable) is a plus

This is a strong entry point for someone who wants to grow. With consistent performance and strong service instincts, there is a clear path to train into a server role.
