Sandwich Line Cook / Prep Cook

Full-Time | Weekend availability required

Prequel Cafe is a quality-driven neighborhood cafe focused on thoughtful food, efficient service, and a well-organized kitchen. Our menu is prep- and service-forward, with a strong emphasis on consistency, cleanliness, and execution during busy cafe hours.

We’re hiring a Sandwich Line Cook / Prep Cook to support daily food prep, sandwich assembly, station organization, and overall kitchen flow. This role is hands-on and service-facing, ideal for someone who is solid on the line, works cleanly, and takes pride in doing things the right way.

Core Responsibilities

• Prep and assemble sandwiches, toasts, bagels, and cafe menu items to standard

• Execute daily prep lists accurately, efficiently, and on time

• Set up, maintain, and break down the sandwich/food line for service

• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary workstations at all times

• Assist with dishwashing and general kitchen upkeep as part of a shared team effort

• Label, date, rotate, and organize refrigeration and dry storage

• Communicate prep needs, low inventory, and issues clearly across shifts

• Work efficiently during peak service hours while maintaining quality

• Complete proper closing duties and weekly deep-cleaning tasks

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years experience as a line cook, prep cook, or cafe kitchen role

• Comfortable with repetition, service pace, and structured systems

• Strong attention to detail and respect for standards and recipes

• Organized, dependable, and able to work independently when needed

• Team-oriented with a calm, professional attitude during busy shifts

• Weekend availability required

• ServSafe certified or willing to obtain certification
