Job Details
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations Director to lead and oversee the daily performance of our management team within a high-volume, upscale steakhouse environment. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence across all departments—including Front of House, Events, and Beverage—while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality, financial stewardship, and team development.
The Director of Operations will serve as the primary leadership partner to ownership and will be accountable for translating strategic objectives into consistent execution on the restaurant floor.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Directly oversee and mentor the restaurant’s management team (FOH, Events, Beverage)
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and service excellence
- Lead hiring, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning for department leaders
- Coach managers on leadership presence, guest recovery, and floor management
- Conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews with department heads
Operational Oversight
- Ensure consistent execution of service standards aligned with a premium steakhouse experience
- Oversee all day-to-day restaurant operations to maintain efficiency and guest satisfaction
- Partner with the Executive Chef and General Manager to ensure FOH/BOH alignment
- Lead pre-service meetings and weekly management meetings
- Maintain oversight of private dining and event execution
Financial Performance
- Maintain fiscal responsibility across all departments
- Manage labor models and scheduling to meet targeted labor percentages
- Monitor food, beverage, and operational cost controls
- Analyze weekly P&L statements and implement corrective actions when needed
- Drive revenue growth through improved service execution and operational efficiencies
- Assist ownership in annual budgeting and forecasting
Guest Experience
- Champion hospitality standards consistent with a high-end dining environment
- Maintain regular presence on the floor during peak service periods
- Respond to guest feedback and lead service recovery when necessary
- Ensure consistent delivery of a memorable guest experience
Compliance & Systems
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing regulations
- Maintain operational SOPs and ensure management adherence
- Oversee inventory systems and purchasing protocols
- Implement and refine operational systems to improve productivity
Qualifications
- 5+ years of senior-level restaurant management experience in a high-volume, full-service environment
- Experience overseeing a multi-department management team
- Demonstrated ability to manage a P&L in excess of $5M in annual revenue
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and labor management
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Preferred Experience
- Upscale or fine-dining steakhouse experience
- Event or private dining oversight
- Multi-outlet or large single-unit leadership experience
