Reports To: Ownership, corporate management, and outside financial consultants
Location: Hybrid
Employment Type: Full-time


Job Summary:

This role is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations, budgeting and financial integrity of a multi-unit restaurant group. The Accounting Manager supports restaurant leadership and ownership by ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely insights that drive operational and financial performance.


This position leads day-to-day accounting functions across multiple restaurant locations while partnering closely with operations, payroll, and corporate leadership to maintain compliance, improve cost controls, and support strategic growth.


Essential Functions:


Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Strategic direction on improving cost controls across restaurants.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff.
  • Oversee general ledger operations for all entities and maintain cohesive charts of accounts for consistent reporting and seamless financial statement consolidation.
  • Oversee daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, general ledger, sales and expense reporting, capitalization, and payroll.
  • Maintain and review task checklists and deadlines to ensure timely period-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close packages.
  • Review preliminary and final financial statements, including P&L by location and concept.
  • Lead monthly financial reviews with leadership, highlighting variances, trends, and opportunities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for ownership and executive leadership.
  • Finalize and deliver comprehensive investor reports - financial side and financial summary.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Controls

  • Lead the budgeting process for all businesses—setting targets, monitoring performance, identifying key KPI’s and guiding real-time decision-making.
  • Technical completion of budgets and revisions for forecasting.
  • Annual budgeting and periodic forecasting across multiple restaurants.
  • Analyze labor, food, beverage, and operating costs; identify variances and root causes.
  • Partner with operations to improve cost controls, margins, and profitability.
  • Support inventory processes and review inventory accuracy and variances.

Payroll Systems & Compliance

  • High level leadership over payroll-related accounting processes, including tip reporting, gratuities, and audits.
  • Ensure proper setup and data flow between POS, inventory, scheduling, and accounting systems.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local accounting and reporting requirements

Tax and Legal

  • Stay up to date on sales tax laws and regulations and ensure that sales tax filings are prepared by accounting staff accurately and paid & filed on time.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely filing and payment of license renewals, property tax reports, and Secretary of State renewals.
  • Maintain electronic and paper files as required by law and company policy.
  • Work closely with outside tax professionals to produce accurate and timely tax returns.
  • Compile vendor expense reports in conjunction with staff accountants and outside financial contractors for annual 1099 filings.

Strategic & Special Projects

  • Analyze cash position and assist ownership and corporate management with cash management decisions.
  • Assist leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects.
  • Support new restaurant openings, system implementations, and process improvements.
  • Present financial data and insights to ownership as needed.
  • Performs all other duties, as assigned by ownership, executive management, and outside financial consultants.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • 2+ years of management or supervisory experience.
  • 2+ years QuickBooks experience required.
  • Experience in the Restaurant/Hospitality industry and multi-entity environment is highly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills required and experience working with Power Query / Power BI a plus.
  • Experience using POS systems like Toast or Square required.
  • Experience using Slack, workflow management systems like Asana, and expense tracking systems like Expensify or Concur a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary of $85 to $90k
