We are currently hiring for a General Manager position for Tremolo Bar, a 60 seat wine bar in historic Middleburg, VA. Tremolo has been recognized by the Washington Post as one of the Seven Best Places To Eat and as one of the 100 Best Restaurants of 2025.

Tremolo is the creation of Jarad Slipp, a Master Sommelier which is a distinction granted to only 284 people in the world. He is also a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America as well as ICIF in Italy and a semifinalist for the James Beard award. Jarad brought his expertise in food and wine to Middleburg in 2020. We offer one of the most ambitious by the glass wine lists on the East Coast and want someone to join us in passionately delivering on the promise of perfect, not pretentious.

Who we are looking for:

Our ideal candidate is someone who has a real passion for making other people happy. This includes our staff as much as our guests.

The General Manager is a leader before anything else. They are someone who inspires and motivates the team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day front of house operation
  • Being present on the floor to make sure that service runs smoothly
  • Detailed knowledge of the food offerings including ingredients, preparation, limitations and allergens
  • Working effectively and efficiently with people across the company maintaining an open-door policy
  • Maintain reservation and POS system to keep up with food and beverage menus
  • Prioritize and multitask with ease in independent work and while delegating jobs to overall team
  • Cocktail & espresso drink preparation and serve/clear food in cooperation with the team
  • Maintaining knowledge of the cocktails and wines and their preparation
  • Communicating with management for any staff needs or changes
  • Enthusiastically sharing knowledge with staff and customers
  • Maintain Yelp, Google and Instagram presence and communication
  • Maintaining and organizing bar and wine cellars
  • Assisting in staff training and education
  • Responding to and coordinating Private Dining Requests

Preferred Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant Management experience in an upscale or fine dining restaurant
  • Wine experience goes a long way in this role given our mission and menu
  • CMS/WSET Certification
  • Staff management & Training of 15+ employees
  • Understanding of Virginia and local alcohol & health department compliance
  • Ability to stand and navigate multiple floors for duration of shift
  • Creative problem solving that benefits guests and the restaurant
