Encouraged: Chefs interested in a hybrid BOH / FOH role (no sushi experience required).

The Job
Welcome to Server Heaven. Where sustainability is key, stress is low, and your body will thank you.

  • We're only ~ 500 square feet
  • Your section is 2 tables. Capacity 4 each. Two turns an evening.
  • Shorter shifts (6.5 - 7 hours). 4:30 - 10:30/11.
  • Time Off = 4 - 5 weeks annually. Paid, with tenure.
    • 3 weeks Dec / Jan (this year: Dec 22nd to January 12th)
    • One week in April
    • One week in August
Available Shifts:
Whether your ideal is 2, 3, 4, or 5 days per week, we'd like to hear from you.
  • Core, necessary shifts: Fri & Sat
  • Also available: Wed, Thurs, Sun
Compensation
We're offering a steady hourly range relative to one's experience and ability, plus additional gratuity above our service charge (estimated at $2/hr). This service-included model allows us to pay everyone in-house a generous, livable wage: from our lovely, dedicated dishwasher to the assistant chefs. Fairness (for everyone involved) is important to us.

Our Needs
We're opening up our 2 bay window tables after years of only seating the omakase counter. You'll also help the 2-3 chefs at the counter serve drinks.

Our Ideal
Our ideal hire is not necessarily an industry veteran (though that certainly helps). It's someone who is able to be precise, gracious, and, perhaps most importantly, kind / dependable. So if you'd like to moonlight on weekends, that works too.

At this level it’s a small world, so we should all be interested in one another's long-term needs. To wit: this is a great place to work, but it’s not everyone’s last stop in life. We genuinely care about supporting those we work with, during and after our time together, which sometimes includes saying goodbye. For better or worse, reputation matters in the culinary world. We are Michelin recommended since we opened our doors. Our Google and Yelp ratings are 5 and 4.9, respectively.

Of note, the position:

  • Occasionally requires the ability to move, lift, or heavy objects without assistance (up to 30 pounds)
  • Must be able to stand for 3-4 hours at a time, and up to 8+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to carry a tray of beverages
