We’re looking for a Wine Sales Associate to join our growing team. As a member of the team, providing Verve Wine clients with an extraordinary wine buying and customer service experience is imperative. Your role as a member of the Retail Team will be to serve each and every client with expertise, friendliness, honesty, and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities
Retail and Operations
- Work with other team members to ensure that all customers receive exceptional service throughout their shopping experience
- Provide wine recommendations and help customers choose the best wine for their personal taste, gift, or event
- Make customers feel welcome and at home in our store
- Act as a representative of our brand; help educate and excite others about our mission and values
- Floor maintenance: main floor, coolers, and shelf maintenance
- Receive inventory and place in corresponding region on the floor and in the cellar in an organized fashion - comfortable with heights and stocking high shelves
- Assist with local deliveries
- Assist with in-store events; setup/breakdown & service
Events
- Verve Wine Chicago offers a variety of unique events in the Event Space.
- Floor team members will be asked to assist in these events. Payment is at the employees normal rate plus tips for the event.
- These events may be outside of normal business hours.
Brand
- Understand and communicate Verve Wine’s values and brand philosophy to customers and staff and set the tone for a positive work environment
- Promote the Verve Wine vision while establishing us as an innovator within our industry
- Actively involved in Verve Wine publicity opportunities and community outreach
- Walks the talk with who we are and what we stand for internally and externally
- Brings to life a guest-centric vision with our retail operations
Additional Skills and Responsibilities

- Up to date and passionate about culinary trends in the United States and abroad
Experience/Education
- Minimum 1+yrs work in a customer service environment around wine
- Minimum completion of Introductory Course with the Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or similar, certification is preferred
- Ability to lift and move 50+ lbs
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Proficient in a variety of technology systems, especially Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and business costing analysis
- Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
- Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential functions
- Ability to perform essential job functions when working under stress, in fast-paced environments
- Polished personal presentation: grooming meets Company standards, as outlined by Employee Handbook
