Muy Salsa Hospitality is looking for a Financial Controller to join our team! We’re a growing hospitality group based in Los Angeles, currently operating four unique concepts and expanding to a fifth (and more) by next year. Some of our current and past projects you may know us from include Loreto, Santa Canela, and LA Cha Cha Cha.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong financial background and experience working in start-up environments or managing finances for multi-location operations. You’ll work directly with the CEO and leadership team to oversee financial operations across all locations—helping guide the company’s next phase of growth.

This role has a hybrid work structure. Most office hours will be remote with at least one day a week at our headquarters at Loreto in Elysian Valley. Occasional attendance at company meetings outside of weekly meeting and special events may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee cash flow management, ensuring operational liquidity and financial stability across all restaurant locations.
  • Maintain cash oversight and ensure proper reconciliation and reporting for each location.
  • Partner with location managers to monitor budgets, control costs, and support financial decision-making.
  • Partner with department leads to ensure COGS targets are met and maintain healthy profit margins.
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely invoicing and vendor payments.
  • Oversee bank accounts and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow projections.
  • Coordinate with external CPA or tax firm to ensure compliance and accurate filings.
  • Develop and improve accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis to guide strategic planning.
  • Support CEO and ownership team with data-driven insights and special financial projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or financial management; prior experience as a Controller or Senior Accountant preferred.
  • Experience in restaurants, food & beverage, or hospitality strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Bill, or similar) and Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Must be comfortable with extended periods of time sitting and working in front of a computer.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to commute to Elysian Valley/Frogtown neighborhood weekly.

This job description is not an exclusive list of all functions of the role. Other tasks may be asked to be performed as needed in the best interest of the business.
