Job Details
The Shift Lead supports the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations while leading shifts to ensure smooth execution of service. This role acts as a bridge between team members and senior leadership, ensuring that employees deliver consistent quality, speed, and hospitality while upholding the culture and values of Tacos 1986.

The Shift Lead / Supervisor is a hands-on leader, directing the flow of operations during service, coaching team members on the floor, and stepping in wherever needed. They are responsible for supporting training, inventory, scheduling, and team development while driving an exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities: Operations & Shift Execution

  • Lead and manage shifts to ensure smooth operations, guest satisfaction, and adherence to company standards.
  • Oversee food quality, speed of service, cleanliness, and safety during shifts.
  • Enforce health, sanitation, and safety standards.
  • Ensure proper cash handling, opening/closing procedures, and daily checklists.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.
  • Coach and develop team members to improve performance and skills.
  • Foster a positive and motivating environment, building team morale.
  • Provide feedback and assist in performance reviews with the General Manager.

Financial & Business Support

  • Assist in monitoring labor, food costs, and other controllables during shifts.
  • Help manage inventory, ordering, and waste control.
  • Ensure accurate cash management and reporting.

Guest Experience & Culture

  • Lead by example on the floor, engaging with guests and ensuring hospitality standards are met.
  • Handle guest complaints with professionalism and care.
  • Uphold Tacos 1986 guiding principles and brand culture in every shift.
  • Act as a role model for service and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly required.
  • 1–2 years of restaurant supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a team.
  • Knowledge of food service operations, safety standards, and guest service.
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, high-volume environments.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
