We’re looking for morning/afternoon sandwich cooks to join the team at Thea!

Thea is the upcoming Fort Greene project from Chef Tomer Blechman of Miss Ada, Nili and Theodora. Thea has an opening date of August 12th 2024. The bakery is a continuation of the work we are doing at Theodora, centered around warm hospitality, fresh baked bread and pastries, house-made provisions and a creative sandwich program. This role will require availability starting on August 8th.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assisting with production, prep and station set up between the hours 6:30 and 8:00 am
• Setup of station includes knife work, minor production, stocking the station
• Working the sandwich station during daytime service from 8 am to 4 pm.
• Service includes preparation of sandwiches and bowls as ordered, preparation, packaging and labeling of pre-packaged items (dips, sauces and sandwiches)
• Assisting with breakdown, clean up and inventory between 4 pm to 5 pm.
• Following all DOH food safety protocols and ensuring a clean and safe work environment
• While we are ideally looking for full time candidates for a 5 day/week schedule, flexible part time opportunities can be discussed.

Requirements:

• Some experience in a food service environment
• Basic Knife Skills
• Full and flexible availability
• Awareness of food safety and allergen protocols
• Interest in long term commitment to a growing team

Physical Requirements:

• Be able to stand for extended periods of time [over 7 hours]
• Be able to lift and carry 50 pounds steadily
• Be comfortable bending, sitting, walking extended distances including up and down flights of stairs, and moving.
• Be comfortable walking up and down stairs frequently, including while carrying large containers
