Chef Masa Takayama's flagship restaurant is seeking an Assistant Sommelier with full-time availability. This position is for an individual who is seeking to develop their beverage knowledge, as well as grow within an expanding restaurant group.

Requirements:

  • Exhibit global wine knowledge with a strong focus on wines of the United States and classic regions of the Old World Burgundy, Bordeaux, Piedmont, Mosel, Rioja.
  • Must be able to work quickly and efficiently behind the bar
  • Must be organized, and be able to maintain a clean work area at all times
  • Must have classic cocktail knowledge
  • Able to maintain great attention to detail in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with sommelier team & management
  • Passion for Japanese cuisine and Sake required.
  • New York City Food Handler’s Certification a plus
  • Must have open availability
