Job Details

The role of the Assistant General Manager is to support the General Manager and take ownership of the food hall ensuring all front and back of house areas are in keeping with the operational standards set out by Saluhall, ensuring constant exemplary level of service and hospitality. Working on a rota basis to cover all trading periods.

You’ll support, supervise and lead the front of house team’s daily activities in accordance with Saluhall values and goals. Exceed customer expectations, achieve profitability and promote a positive, productive and engaged work environment to deliver the world’s greatest food hall.

OPERATIONS

  • Support and assist the General Manager in all aspects of the operations to ensure the smooth running of the business at all times including financial, H&S and people targets.
  • Lead by example at all times as an ambassador for Saluhall.
  • Take full ownership of our bar outlets and work closely with the GM, Head of Bars & on-site bar team to ensure drinks products and service excel in their field whilst achieving financial targets & excellent stock management.
  • Ordering of wet and dry stock to par levels and organizing the acceptance of these deliveries. Regular communication with our warehouse and other suppliers.
  • Work closely with 3rd party suppliers to ensure delivery of their Service Level Agreements
  • Constant review of systems and practices to ensure high level of on-site productivity.
  • Ensure clear communication channels between Saluhall and all key stakeholders
  • Work closely with the GM to manage the overall logistics of the site ensuring compliance.
  • Ensure on-site practices are in line with company sustainability policy.
  • Work closely with Event Manager assisting with the production and execution of events and activations

PEOPLE

  • The main point of contact for all team members, reporting back to GM where necessary.
  • Constant review and development of on-site teams, supporting their individual training plans.
  • Responsible for teams performance and knowledge levels on both food & drink ensuring a real enthusiasm for the products.
  • Work closely with the GM and Saluhall’s internal people team on recruitment, training and compliance for members of the team
  • Shape and create a culture and environment where people want to work, always referring back to Saluhall Culture and Hospitality manual.

FINANCE

  • Work closely with the GM and onsite teams to ensure maximized profitability and achieve set financial targets.
  • Write weekly rotas for all onsite teams, working closely with Supervisors and GM for production and sign off.

COMMUNITY

  • Act as a Brand Ambassador for Saluhall within the community and build strong relationships with local residents and neighboring businesses.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with the community of independent drink brands.
  • Support GM with all Charity Partner initiatives
  • Live and breath Saluhall values in all your working practices


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a bar / food service environment with team management experience
  • Proven track record & hunger for driving sales forward with an eye on the quality of Saluhall’s product
  • Proactive / self-starter with tons of initiative
  • Excellent people skills, confident talking to clients and traders in a consultative manner and developing long-term relations
  • Ability to adapt communication style according to the audience
  • Ability to delegate
  • Ability to set targets and motivate the team in achieving them and reporting on progress
  • Positive and flexible attitude, with the ability to think laterally and willing to problem solve
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to communicate and conduct oneself in a clear, diplomatic and authoritative manner
  • Outstanding hustle

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:


In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions:


  • Banqueting and Private Events:
    • Oversee the execution and delivery of service in the event space
    • Support the design and implementation of all facilities including lighting/sound/AV/IT for the event space
    • Supervise the maintenance team and direct logistics and storage areas associated with the event space
  • To provide a courteous and professional service with all management, employees, customers and vendors
  • To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times
  • To have a complete understanding of the restaurant’s employee handbook and adhere to the regulations contained within it
  • To develop an open culture of communication, both formal and informal
  • Have communication skills and organizational skill
  • Be able to handle stressful situations and be able to prevent and/or handle emergency situations
  • A cheerful, positive attitude when working with a variety of people, and be able to work well under pressure
  • Strong communication skills with supervisors and team members


SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English. Bi-lingual is a plus.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderated and controlled by facility environmental systems
  • Able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for an extended period of time
  • Able to lift up to 25lbs. and on a regular and continuing basis
  • Able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, twist, walk, crouch, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks
  • Manual dexterity required to use and operate all necessary equipment
  • Talking, hearing and seeing (vision) occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, Supervisors and other Employees
  • Has an open and flexible availability as schedules may change based on business demand

Compensation range: $75,000 Annually W2. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, location and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
