Cervo's is looking for a SERVICE MANAGER to join our team. We're a 50+seat, bustling, neighborhood restaurant in Chinatown, Manhattan. Our menu is inspired by the coastal cuisine of the Iberian Peninsula, with a focus on local, sustainable ingredients from the Northeast and featuring natural wines of Spain and Portugal. Our style of service is friendly and professional. We have high standards and we have fun.

The Service Manager acts as a leader of the Service team in conjunction with the General Manager and Director of Operations to uphold our systems, policies, and service and hospitality standards. The Service Manager role is an important part of driving the hospitality, identity, culture and sales of the restaurant. In addition to pushing forward the service and beverage component of the restaurant, the Service Manager is responsible for helping to create a space where employees feel respected, safe and able to focus on working hard, challenging themselves and making memorable guest experiences. They are responsible for the oversight and support of daily services, as well as facilitating set up and closing duties. They will work closely with Chefs and Managers to ensure daily success in service while also strategizing to ensure the success of the team members, the enjoyment of guests and the health of the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Manage service staff to encourage their development.
  • Active participation in weekly management meetings.
  • Follow HR management protocols and model best practices.
  • Present and working service five nights per week.
  • Engage staff on beverage, food & service knowledge.
  • Get the restaurant ready for service each day.
  • Menu, website and POS system updates.
  • Respond to guest inquiries by email and phone.
  • Receive, store and organize daily deliveries.
  • Maintain petty logs and cash sales.
  • Beverage inventory and ordering of liquor and beer.
  • Ordering of dry goods, paper goods and smallwares.
  • Complete daily payroll procedures.
  • Be the lead problem solver on the floor.
  • Regular social media posts.
  • Assist in planning, prep and execution of pop ups and events on and off-site.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Food Protection Certificate for NYC DOH compliance.
  • Minimum of three years experience as a server or bartender in multiple establishments.
  • Proficient in reservation platforms, Indesign, Microsoft Office and Google drive.
  • Experience managing employees is preferred.
  • Additional language ability is a plus.
  • Ability to stand/walk for 10+ hours per day as well as accomplish heavy lifting.
  • Able to work flexible hours as necessary to manage and operate the restaurant effectively, including weekends and closing shifts as needed.
