Are you a skilled and experienced bartender looking for a new challenge? Do you have a passion for creating and serving amazing drinks to customers? If so, we want you to join our team! Union Sushi + Barbeque Bar is a busy and popular bar in downtown Chicago, looking for a seasoned bartender to join our team. All applicants must have previous experience in a high volume restaurant and willing to work in a team-oriented environment.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Mixing, pouring, and serving drinks to customers according to their preferences and our standards
  • Managing inventory, ordering supplies, and keeping track of stock levels
  • Pricing drinks and creating drink menus that are attractive and profitable
  • Champion the bar set up prior to shift, including completing the daily tasks required on our prep schedule.
  • Work with barback to break down bar at end of shift and complete all daily cleaning requirements
  • Learn about all of our menus and be able to fully explain them to our guests
  • Learn specifics about our cocktail program, Beer, Wine, and Spirits list in order to guide our guests to try new things
  • Memorize all cocktail builds to facilitate a high level of customer service
  • Contribute to beverage development assignments and help facilitate education for our staff
  • Responsible for handling all payments behind the bar
  • Champion bar maintenance and cleanliness
  • Partake in tasting exercises to improve knowledge about our products
  • Contribute during tasting discussion to provoke a learning environment
  • Complete all assigned side work
  • Assist manager with all closing responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a high volume bar/restaurant
  • Experience working with classic cocktails
  • Be able to demonstrate strong multi tasking ability
  • Availability to work nights, weekends and/or holidays
  • Working knowledge of craft spirits
  • Working knowledge of classic cocktails
  • Working knowledge of craft beer and wine
  • Strong communication skills
  • Positive attitude and passion for hospitality
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with TOAST
  • Illinois Food Handlers Certificate• Illinois Basset Certification

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly (Based on Experience) plus tips

Estimated Weekly Tips: $1,200
