Position:We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to support our culinary team. As a Sous Chef at Burger and Lobster, you will play a crucial role in the creation and execution of our menu, ensuring that each dish meets our high standards of taste, presentation, and quality. You will work closely with the Head Chef and collaborate with the kitchen staff to deliver an exceptional dining experience to our guests.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and food cost management.
- Oversee and participate in the preparation, cooking, and plating of dishes to ensure consistent quality and timely service.
- Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and fostering a positive work environment.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the Executive Chef in managing food ordering and storage.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new and innovative menu items, taking into consideration guest preferences and dietary restrictions.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of management experience in a quality, high-volume restaurant environment.
- Culinary degree or certificate preferred.
- NYC Food Handlers License or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Knowledge of New York State Health and Sanitation Guidelines.
- Must have the ability to read, speak and understand English, and to follow written directions and verbal instructions in English.
- Ability to work productively and cooperatively in a high volume, fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively, accurately, and efficiently with time constraints.
- Must be adaptable, innovative, and proactive.
- Proficient computer skills necessary including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers, supervisors, vendors, and guests effectively, professionally, and respectfully.

- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 50+ pounds Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential job functions
- Ability to safely navigate hazardous situations and conditions that produce cuts or minor burns
- Ability to safely navigate exposure to hot and cold temperatures, such as when working near ovens or retrieving food from freezers, as well as contaminants and hazardous equipment
