About the Job
We are looking for Sushi Chefs to join our Kamasu Hudson Yards team!

What we look for:
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn our menu and execute it consistently and efficiently.
  • A cheerful, positive attitude when working with a variety of people, and being able to work well under pressure.
  • Responsible, neat, and clean.
  • Good under pressure
  • Works well in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Basic English language skills.
  • Someone who shows up on time, ready to work.

Previous sushi experience is highly preferred, but not necessary. Willingness to learn is! Knife skills are also necessary!
Qualifications:
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with co-workers and management
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum amount of supervision.
  • Knife skills
  • Ability to accurately follow established recipe and technique guidelines
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, and think clearly while providing service to many guests at any given time.
  • Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers
Experience:
  • At least 1-2 years of sushi experience preferred
  • At least 1-2 years of kitchen experience preferred

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee may stand for up to eight hours per shift excluding required rest breaks and meal periods. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Other:
  • Regular attendance in conformance with company standards is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs.
  • Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
Pay will be based off of experience and ability to learn.
