NEXUS Club New York is a private membership club that is hiring a superstar to join our team as a hybrid BARISTA/KITCHEN SERVER. This is your chance to make magic in both the front and back of house: making great coffee and smoothie products, as well as being a liaison between the kitchen and the front of house. We are looking for someone who is passionate about service and can enthusiastically and efficiently communicate their knowledge to our other staff and members.

Primary Duties:

• Provide a high level of genuine hospitality to every member and guest at all times throughout the day and spaces.
• Anticipating and fulfilling a wide assortment of member or guest needs and wants, both food and beverage and non-food and beverage related.
• Treat every member, guest, employee, and vendor with respect, dignity, and kindness.
• Uphold the values, mission, and standards set forth by NEXUS Club New York.
• Maintain a complete understanding of culinary and beverage menus including ingredients, sides, presentation, and possible allergens.
• Take member and guest food and beverage orders, utilize salesmanship techniques, and make appropriate recommendations.

• Weekends are a must, and Cafe shifts have early starts: 7/8 AM Weekdays, and 8/9 AM on Weekends.

What you'll do:

• Barista Shifts:
• Craft delicious coffee beverages from espresso to lattes and everything in between.
• Prepare pre-workout, post-workout, hydration, and recovery beverages/smoothies.
• Maintain pre-batches of ingredients for these to simplify preparation.
• Keep the barista station and surrounding tables clean and organized – stepping out from behind the counter as needed.
• Keep the Café plentifully stocked with retail products, as well as assist with Café inventory.
• Kitchen Server Shifts:
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace.
• Assist the kitchen with expediting and running.
• Confirm that food is plated according to NEXUS’ spec.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff.
• Assist the FOH team with polishing glass and silverware.

• Knowledgeable about Café products: Differentiate between a latte, cappuccino, macchiato, etc.

• A multitasker extraordinaire: You can remain composed and organized during a big rush at the Café counter during Café Shifts and can do the same when helping expedite a large party/busy service during Kitchen Server Shifts.

• A team player: You collaborate effectively with both kitchen and front-of-house staff to create a seamless dining experience.

• A positive force: You bring energy, enthusiasm, and a can-do attitude to everything you do.
• Comfortable around children: Cafe is located adjacent to areas where children are supervised. Our JR Members are also members!
