Affiliated with STARR Restaurants, colorful and contemporary Makoto offers bright and spacious indoor and outdoor dining on the third floor of the luxury boutiques Bal Harbour Shops. Designed by international designer India Mahdavi, Makoto is the perfect fusion of a French Brasserie, Japanese restaurant, and an American diner, all under one roof. Chef Makoto Okuwa, a master of Edomae-style sushi, continues to reshape tradition for a savvy audience eager for something new.
We are now seeking a passionate lead-by-example Restaurant Manager who knows how to train, mentor, and lead a top-notch team to deliver a memorable experience to all of our guests.

The ideal candidates will have:
- 2+ years of restaurant management experience in a well-rated restaurant-preferably Japanese
- A true love and appreciation for Japanese cuisine
- Experience hiring, training and mentoring a diverse team of hourly staff
- Basic computer and account knowledge including: Word, Excel, scheduling software, Open Table, Onboarding, & HR systems
- Strong food and wine knowledge with an eagerness to teach others.(especially as it pertains to sushi, ramen and other Asian & Japanese preparations)
- Ability to lead by example to drive the success of the team and restaurant
