We all depend on healthcare throughout our lifetimes, for ourselves, and our families and friends, but it is notoriously difficult to navigate and understand. As an industry that comprises 20% of the US economy we think healthcare should work better for all of us. At Collective Health we believe it’s time for a new day in healthcare where as members we are informed and empowered to make the right care choices when the decisions are urgent and critical.

UX Content Design Manager

Collective Health is invested in shaping and changing the way we experience healthcare. Our Content Design team helps our members live healthier and happier lives by using content to deliver the right information, at the right time, in ways that meet their needs.

We’re looking for a Content Design Manager to lead our team, connect dots across the organization, and bring the core aspects of a health plan to life for our members. This role will report to the UX product design director and will have at least two direct reports. Our team is jam-packed with big-hearted, creative, curious people who are here to help healthcare make sense. If this meaningful, service-oriented work sounds exciting, we’d love to hear from you!

Your responsibilities

  • Lead a transformation: Drive an organization-wide initiative to create a centralized content model as we transition to a headless CMS.
  • Craft compelling content: Write and edit clear, concise, and engaging content that aligns with our brand guidelines.
  • Optimize workflows: Define and enhance workflows for localization and content operations to streamline our processes.
  • Establish governance: Lead and collaborate with content creators to develop a governance model that simplifies health benefits for our members.
  • Enhance content strategy: Build upon our existing content strategy to influence our user communications team, ensuring important benefit information is effectively shared via email or text.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with engineers, product managers, content designers, UX researchers, and other product designers to ensure content drives desired UX, business, and technical outcomes.
  • Design high-quality experiences: Craft experiences that meet our high visual and interaction design standards.
  • Innovative problem solving: Approach problem-solving with empathy and creativity, recognizing there is rarely one “right” answer.
  • Embrace ambiguity: Move quickly and navigate ambiguity, understanding that effective problem solving requires tenacity, flexible thinking, and comfort with discomfort.
  • Evolve product voice: Delight in developing and evolving our product voice and tone.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in UX content design, UX writing, editorial, marketing, or related field
  • Strong background in content strategy, information architecture, and user-centered design principles
  • At least 2 years in a management or leadership role
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communication, Human-computer interaction, Marketing, or a related field; Master degree is a plus

Your skills include

  • Dot-connecting: You excel at seeing the big picture and guiding, connecting, and influencing not just the UX content design team but also content creators across the organization.
  • Leading and building: You lead, mentor, and coach other content designers while actively building alongside them.
  • Having strong content design chops: You partner closely with product content and business stakeholders to meet both user and business needs.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally: You're a leader who effectively manages stakeholders across our content ecosystem, builds alignment, and maintains content governance.
  • Healthcare experience: Healthcare is hard. You understand the complexities of healthcare, making it easier to communicate intricate topics.
  • Content Testing and Analysis: You have experience researching and analyzing user data, conducting content audits, performing competitive analysis, and running usability tests to ensure content effectiveness before scaling it up.

Please provide a portfolio with examples of content & organizational leadership, content design, or content strategy work.
