Job Summary

The Strategic Relationship Management Specialist will manage and maintain the relationships with vendors utilized for credit or other operational products and services. This role will be a liaison for the business to the vendor and provide support to the business for issues, questions or concerns related to the vendor engagement and/or contracts. This role will partner with various areas of the business to drive vendor initiatives that support new opportunities for revenue growth, new capabilities, and improvements and process efficiencies. Additionally, this role will be able to extract data and analyze in support of ongoing credit management initiatives.


Essential Job Functions

  • Assist in managing initiatives and relationships associated with vendor products. Serve as a driver of strategic relationships between the vendors and internal business partners, along with the coordination of initiatives, consulting, mutual planning sessions/discussions, ongoing meetings, validations, etc. on strategic goals. - (40%)
  • Audit existing contracts and invoices to ensure we are being billed according to the terms of the contracts. Initiate disputes when errors are discovered and communicate internally with appropriate parties. Review existing processes for vendor expense reduction opportunities. - (10%)
  • Work with appropriate internal partners to examine new capabilities or solutions through new or existing contracts which includes being informed of new product or service offerings. - (10%)
  • Work effectively with Finance and Accounting partners on changes in process or changes in products and services that have financial impacts. Work as a liaison from the business to Finance and Accounting on initiative costs and where within the business the costs should fall. - (10%)
  • Identify gaps in and write content for statement of works and other legal documents needed to support business initiatives. Partner with internal and external legal teams to process and execute these documents. - (5%)
  • Work with the business on potential new vendor relationships, including but not limited to, understanding overlap with existing relationships and/or products, implementing interim NDA’s or agreements needed for exploratory discussions, scheduling demos, or participating in proof of concept exercises, etc. - (10%)
  • Partner with Risk Management to conduct the initial due diligence process with new vendors as well as the annual due diligence process with existing vendors. - (10%)
  • Complete ad hoc analytical exercises using data analysis and extraction tools (SQL/SAS) - (5%)


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience with vendor relationship management


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or vendor management or related field of study or equivalent, relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the credit card or finance industry
  • 5+ years of experience gathering and/or analyzing financial data
  • 5+ years of experience using data extraction, analysis and research tools/techniques (i.e., SQL/SAS)

Work Environment

  • Normal office environment. (Remote or Hybrid), 3 to 4 days per month are required in office if within 60 miles of a posted Bread Financial location.

Salary Range (unless otherwise noted below):

$79,500.00 - $144,100.00

Full Salary Range for position:

California: $91,500.00 - $180,100.00

Colorado: $79,500.00 - $151,300.00

New York: $87,500.00 - $180,100.00

Washington: $83,500.00 - $165,700.00

Maryland: $83,500.00 - $158,500.00

Washington DC: $91,500.00 - $165,700.00

Illinois: $79,500.00 - $158,500.00

New Jersey: $91,500.00 - $165,700.00

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates (except those located in Illinois) receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time (“PSST”) upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois associates receive 40 hours of Illinois PSST upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year and 40 hours of Illinois Paid Leave upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois Paid Leave must be used before associates in Illinois will be approved to take FTO.

Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
