Job Summary
The Account Protection Department, commonly referred to as the Fraud Department, is the area of the business that manages fraud reporting, investigation and resolution related to consumer complaints and disputes of fraudulent activity deposit accounts. Account Protection Deposit Investigators are responsible for monitoring, processing and responding to fraud related inquiries, pended fraud evaluations (applications) and confirmed fraud claims for Deposit accounts. The Investigator, utilizes various fraud detection tools to review and verify customer behavioral activity, thereby minimizing potential losses and reducing risk. Opportunities are achieved through reviewing and verifying information on existing accounts, receiving inbound and making outbound investigative phone calls to cardholders. Position requires proactive decision-making skills and excellent problem solving. The Deposit Investigator plays a key role in contributing to profitability and retaining customer loyalty while minimizing loss resulting from fraud.
Essential Job Functions
Assist in reviewing, dispositioning, and escalating deposit fraud alerts to ensure timely and accurate identification of fraudulent activities. (20%)
Leverage fraud technology solutions to detect and prevent fraudulent transactions, ensuring the security of customer accounts. (15%)
Review system-generated reports and alerts regarding customer accounts to identify and disposition potential fraudulent activities. (15%)
Perform detailed fraud reviews, verify customer activities, and identify potential fraud through thorough investigation and analysis. (20%)
Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls related to ongoing fraud investigations, providing clear and effective communication with customers and internal teams. (10%)
Process pended fraud evaluations, review and respond to fraud-related inquiries, and take appropriate actions such as placing holds, returning items, and closing accounts. (10%)
Identify and monitor customers and accounts that represent an increased risk for fraud losses, and promptly escalate critical and reputational risk matters to the Fraud Manager. (5%)
Compile fraud data for exams, audits, and validations, and establish effective working relationships with department members and all employees to support fraud prevention efforts. (5%)

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:
Call Center environment. Schedules day shifts Monday- Friday.
Location- Although this position is considered work at home, the candidate must reside within the same state and 60 miles from their current physical Bread Financial location or hub.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
1+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working with Consumer Deposit or Commercial accounts
Experience with current fraud schemes in the banking sector, including those related to investments, 401(k) plans and cryptocurrencies

Pay Range:
$18.00 - $24.00
The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.
Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates, both full time and part time, can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.
All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Full-time hourly associates receive a bi-annual grant of Paid Time Off (“PTO”) in each January and July based on their service date and scheduled hours, whereas newly hired full time hourly associates in their first year of employment receive a prorated PTO grant on their 61st day of employment based on the month of hire and scheduled hours. Associates will receive a payout of any unused PTO, up to 40 hours, paid out in the next calendar year (except associates in Alaska, California, Colorado, Montana and Nebraska who are paid for all unused PTO). Additionally, hourly associates (except those in California) generally receive 72 hours of Paid Sick Leave Plus (“PSL+”) per calendar year, with a pro-rated grant in the associate’s first year of employment to the extent allowed by applicable law. If additional PSL+ is required in a particular jurisdiction, the company with comply with applicable law. Unused PSL+ does not carry over from one calendar year to the next unless required by applicable law. Instead of PSL+, hourly associates in California receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time (“PSST”) upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year.
Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December.
