Job Summary

This manager will be joining our newly created Global Accounting Policy & Advisory team. This role is a member of the team responsible for providing technical accounting interpretation and advice for new and existing products along with contractual relationships with our brand partners, merger and acquisition structuring, accounting and integration, accounting policy documentation and compliance. This position is also involved in training, monitoring, and implementing emerging US GAAP and regulatory standards. The role partners across Finance and various other groups across the Company providing subject matter expertise and influence in the direction of our business.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Leadership: Provide technical accounting interpretation and advice for new and existing products and contractual relationships with our brand partners, merger and acquisition structuring, accounting and integration, accounting policy documentation and compliance. Supply training, monitoring, and implementation of emerging US GAAP and regulatory standards. Provide training across Finance on technical accounting topics relevant to the Company’s strategies and objectives, and colleagues’ growth and development.

  • Process and Policy: Monitor emerging US GAAP and regulatory developments, communicating internally, those emerging standards and their potential impacts on the Company. Participate, as relevant, in comment letters on exposure drafts and ultimately lead the implementation of newly issued accounting standards. Update existing accounting policies and develop new accounting policies relevant for the Company’s key business objectives and risks.

  • Business Relationships: Develop a network of accounting policy resources outside of the Company in order to maintain an external perspective of accounting policy advisory and participate in external forums periodically to influence and grow expertise. Provide insights around the technical accounting and economic impacts associated with M&A targets; partnering with other teams across the Company to integrate newly acquired companies and loan portfolios.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • This position is hybrid with an onsite schedule of 4 - 5 days per month.

  • In-office requirements are subject to change based on business needs. This position is currently available to candidates that reside within 60 miles of Columbus, OH or Plano, TX.

  • Hybrid role, work in corporate office as required.

  • Some limited travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field of study.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

  • 8+ years of experience with public accounting and/or accounting policy.

  • 3+ years of experience leading teams of people in a professional setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience with public accounting and/or accounting policy.

  • Experience with complex accounting topics, including related to revenue recognition, consolidation and derecognition, financial instruments, current expected credit losses, derivatives, and hedging.

  • Experience in a national office or technical/on-call group within a public accounting organization.

  • Experience presenting to and communicating with executive leaders.

  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally and building strong partnerships.

Typical Starting Range:

$97,900.00 - $177,400.00

Full Salary Range for position:

California: $112,600.00 - $221,800.00

Colorado: $97,900.00 - $186,300.00

New York: $107,700.00 - $221,800.00

Washington: $102,800.00 - $204,000.00

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates (except those located in Illinois) receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time (“PSST”) upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois associates receive 40 hours of Illinois PSST upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year and 40 hours of Illinois Paid Leave upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois Paid Leave must be used before associates in Illinois will be approved to take FTO.

Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
