Job Summary

The Manager, Business Strategy – Events & Engagement manages the planning and measurement of the Events & Engagement team projects, events, and sponsorships that align with the company’s strategic priorities and business strategy. This role determines, contributes and manages projects communicating our business strategy and ongoing initiatives at internal company events and meetings. The Manager independently represents the Events & Engagement function on cross-departmental initiatives and is accountable for projects/manages updates to all levels of leadership.

Essential Job Functions

Planning & Measurement: Develops project plans and supports the end-to-end planning, research and measurement of the internal and external company events strategy for all in-person, hybrid, and virtual meetings & events. External events include conventions and trade shows in the payments, retail and technology industries. Internal events include all associate quarterly meetings, associate driven content events, and leadership events. This role must be able to demonstrate experience in: managing multiple vendors negotiating contracts, detailed project planning and ability to project manage multiple projects at once. This role does independent research, makes recommendations and collaborates with leadership. Focuses on team measurement strategy in conjunction with Director, Events & Engagement.

Communication: Creates project plans, presentation decks, and various communication collateral in collaboration with other team members for a variety of senior leaders within the Company for use internally and externally. Utilizes knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams to execute daily work. Applies the art of persuasion, negotiates, facilitates, and presents information in an articulate, professional, and digestible manner by applying professional verbal and written communication skills.

Project Management: Develops and executes event/meeting project plans that are highly detailed and collaborative. Also responsible for budgeting, contract negotiations and measurement dashboards. Utilizes critical thinking skills to help analyze business issues, collaborates with stakeholders to resolve problems, is strategic, and gains consensus on the best solution. Understands and advises the technical needs of each project working closely with partners. Accountable for meeting expectations of on-time, on-budget, and with error-free delivery.

Building Relationships: Build relationships and identify business connections with internal teams to maximize efficiency. Proactively ask questions about business and audience needs by identifying meaningful opportunities to impact by fully tailoring approach to fit needs. Collaborate with Corporate Affairs, Business Strategy, Account Management, Creative teams (design and editorial), HR, Sustainability & Community Relations, Business Resource Groups, and others pending specific projects on timing and delivery of written and designed communications, feedback from internal partners and revised tactics.

Leadership: Invested in the development of associates and their continued success. Take part in teach and learn environment by providing feedback to direct reports as applicable and mentoring other specialists. Lead, coach, motivate, challenge and provide managerial guidance to the team as applicable. Develop and execute training programs for the team. Utilizes excellent communication skills to articulate a strategic vision to the team. Solve problems and make decisions with sound judgement. Provides continuous feedback and completes formal performance evaluations as directed by the organization as applicable. Values associate recognition and celebrating the accomplishments of individual team members as well as the overall team.

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:

  • Remote work; normal office environment as needed; recommended 3-4 days per month in office; some travel to events is required.

Direct Reports:

  • Up to 2 direct reports

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 8+ years experience in event management/execution, communications, marketing, working collaboratively with a team and internal partners, experience managing the expectations of various stakeholders

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications
  • Strategy and measurement experience, event planning experience including theme development and presentation creation, project management, experience with a variety of media including print, email, web, and video.

Typical Starting Range:

$86,100.00 - $156,000.00

Full Salary Range for position:

California: $98,800.00 - $195,000.00

Colorado: $86,100.00 - $163,900.00

New York: $94,700.00 - $195,000.00

Washington: $90,400.00 - $179,100.00

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safety Time per calendar year at the beginning of each year and is prorated in the associate’s first year of employment.

Hired associates will be able to elect to purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
