About The Role:
We are seeking a Machine Operator who will be responsible for an operational line and all the associated equipment on that line. This hire will be responsible for the line's performance and maintaining the uptime of the equipment associated with it. The Operator will be the first point of contact for anything needed to maintain production.
Schedule:
Sunday-Tuesday & every other Wednesday: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm OR
Thursday-Saturday & every other Wednesday: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

What You'll Do:

  • Own and drive efficient and expected performance at a critical workstation on Bowery Farming’s processing or pack floor; own achievement of expected rates
  • Work closely with Team Leads and the wider Farm Leadership team to create visibility, and drive the appropriate actions to keep your designated workstation running through the shift to standard expectations
  • Perform pre-op checklists, inclusive of visual inspections and verification that all portions of equipment have been properly assembled; responsible for proper set up of equipment before shift start
  • Maintain equipment for the duration of your shift and resolve setup and basic mechanical issues both independently, and in partnership with on and off-site maintenance and support teams
  • Report all machinery breakdowns and problems; maintain visibility to the ongoing health of equipment and escalate issues appropriately
  • Document all downtime events and the reasons in our tracking software; collaborate with Farm leadership team and support teams across the organization to conduct root cause analyses and implement solutions
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues to maintain quality standards and ensure all product meets expected specifications
  • Monitor and perform changeovers on the line in a timely manner, including material preparation for the changeover
  • Execute end-of-shift shutdown activities; ensure equipment is in working order and prepared appropriately for overnight sanitation work
  • Cross-train into the operator role at various stations on the processing or pack floor to provide coverage for additional operators at the farm
  • Support new operators during onboarding by providing on-the-job training and formal observations; responsible to support documentation of training within learning management software system

Who You Are:

  • A technically savvy individual with the ability to use an HMI (Human Machine Interface) to troubleshoot and understand problems with a piece of equipment
  • Ability to communicate issues and needs upstream and downstream of the process you are responsible for
  • Team player able to work with others both internal and external to the farm, bringing information forward to help troubleshoot issues within the processing or pack rooms
  • Possess basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of how to use basic hand tools
  • Ability to work full-time (average 40 hours per week) on a rotating shift schedule
  • Ability to work in a cold climate-controlled environment which is around 35℉
  • Able to work up to 4 days weekly for 12-hour shifts (breaks and lunch included)
  • Ability to commit to a consistent set of scheduled days, including holidays on your scheduled days
  • Ability to always practice safe work habits in a food-safe environment
  • Self-starter who gets involved quickly and takes on complex tasks with enthusiasm
  • Maintain high productivity by operating with a sense of urgency, efficiency, and effectiveness over an extended period
  • Ability to implement changes to procedure at your assigned work station
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be at least 18 years old
