THE TEAM

The Sourcing team helps to take our unique designs and transform them into products to sell to our customers with the help of our third-party manufacturing partners. Internally, we partner closely with the Merchandising, Product Development, Research & Development, and Supply Chain teams in order to give dogs and their people the best experience possible. WHO WE’RE SNIFFING FOR

We are seeking to hire a Sourcing Manager for our Consumables category to help lead BARK’s rapid growth and product expansion in the dog treat, food, and wellness space. The position will report to the Director of Sourcing, Consumables. This position will work closely with our core suppliers, and be responsible for leading the execution of category sourcing strategies for contract manufacturing and primary and secondary packaging. The role will also focus on managing new product launches end to end.

KEY DUTIES

• Execution of category strategies: collaborate with all Consumables teams to implement action plans for contract manufacturers, primary components, and secondary components and packaging.
• Forecasting & Capacity Management- work closely with Planning to consolidate channel forecasts for our entire portfolio, solve for any capacity constraints, and publish monthly forecast updates to suppliers.
• Refine and enhance internal purchasing and development calendars and processes, and ensure milestone adherence during new development
• Lead weekly Sourcing & development calls with core suppliers
• Support new product launch activities: partner with R&D and Business teams to finalize new product specifications, packaging, and costs.
• Manage excess packaging inventory on hand, monitor aging and manage consumption plans
• Oversee weekly production reports, manage and maintain on-time delivery
• Develop new suppliers if needed with a focus on speed to market, quality, cost and supply stability.

EXPERIENCE

• At least 5 years in a well-respected supply chain organization with a track record of results managing direct material and packaging categories
• Experience in the food/consumable category is strongly preferred. CPG or sourcing/procurement/supply chain role is required.
• Experience with category management across multiple channels and multi-step strategic sourcing processes; able to lead and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Strong project management skills, including stakeholder, timeline, and meeting management skills
• Understanding of general procedure to pay processes and systems, including use of ERP systems
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal cross-functional partners and external audiences
• Manages change through influence; capable of driving major commercial decisions across a diverse set of stakeholders
• A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate self and others; easily accepts constructive input from others
• Bachelor's Degree in business, chemistry, engineering, supply chain, or a related field

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficient in Excel, PLM, and Google.
• Both DTC and Retail experience are a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Ability to think creatively and utilize strong analytical, problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and autonomously.
• Organized and proactive in managing projects: you don’t wait for information to come to you, you actively seek it.

FOR CO/NJ/NY BASED APPLICANTS:

• The base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000
• This position is eligible for equity

**This compensation range is based on BARKs good faith estimate as of the date of this posting and may be modified in the future. Actual pay for this position will depend on a variety of variables including location, travel, internal equity, experience, education, skills and expertise.
