Avant is looking for a Loan Servicing Product Manager, Associate who is ready to own and improve the systems and processes that power Avant's personal loan servicing platform. This is a hands-on role — you won't just manage from a distance. You'll dig into the platform, understand how every workflow operates end-to-end, and drive improvements that directly impact borrower experience and business performance. You'll collaborate with a team of passionate Engineers, Designers, and Operations Managers, as well as many other cross-functional partners to ensure our servicing platform runs efficiently, scales effectively, and delivers an exceptional customer experience.
Associates at Avant are cross-functional leaders, defining the goals not just for the customer experience and technology, but for our entire business. You'll need to understand the full lifecycle of a loan — from origination through payoff — and how servicing decisions impact credit performance, unit economics, and customer satisfaction.
This position is based in Avant's downtown Chicago office, located in the Merchandise Mart. We highly value collaboration, and our hybrid schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday in-office) enables the flexibility to balance work and individual priorities.
What you’ll do at Avant:
Own the loan servicing platform roadmap: Define and prioritize features, enhancements, and fixes across account management, customer communications, and collections.
Get hands-on with the platform: Develop deep expertise in how our servicing systems work — including the underlying data models, integrations, and business logic — so you can identify issues, propose solutions, and speak credibly with engineering teams.
Partner with Engineering: Work closely with development teams in an agile environment to scope technical requirements, write detailed product requirements documents, and ensure high-quality delivery.
Analyze servicing performance: Use SQL and data tools to monitor key servicing KPIs (delinquency rates, payment success rates, customer contact rates, loss mitigation outcomes) and turn insights into product improvements.
Understand the economics: Develop a strong understanding of how the loan product generates revenue, how servicing costs impact profitability, and how product decisions affect credit performance and capital efficiency.
Optimize customer journeys: Map and improve borrower-facing servicing experiences — including the mobile app, web dashboard, hardship programs, autopay enrollment, and account notifications — while balancing customer satisfaction with operational costs and risk management.
Drive cross-functional alignment: Partner closely with Risk, Finance, Operations, Compliance, and Customer Service to ensure servicing changes are operationally sound, compliant, and aligned with business strategy.
Conduct competitive analysis: Research and benchmark competitor servicing capabilities, industry best practices, and regulatory trends to inform the product roadmap.
Manage the product backlog: Prioritize and maintain a well-groomed backlog, working with all departments to ensure they have what they need to be successful.
Leverage AI and automation: Actively use AI tools for internal applications, workflow automation, and data analysis. Identify opportunities to integrate AI-driven solutions into servicing to improve efficiency, reduce manual processes, and enhance decision-making.
Why you’re at fit at Avant:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline).
2–4+ years of experience in product management, fintech, financial services, or a high-growth technology company — ideally with exposure to lending.
Technical aptitude: Comfortable working with SQL to query data and validate hypotheses. Python experience is a plus, and familiarity with Databricks or similar data platforms is valued. You should understand APIs, system architecture concepts, and how software platforms are built. You don't need to write production code, but you should be able to read a technical spec and have an informed conversation with engineers.
AI-forward mindset: You actively use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) in your daily workflow to move faster — whether that's drafting requirements, analyzing data, prototyping solutions, or automating repetitive tasks. At Avant, leveraging AI isn't optional; it's how we work.
Strong understanding of (or eagerness to learn) the loan lifecycle — origination, underwriting, servicing, collections, and payoff — and how each stage connects.
Demonstrated ability to think both strategically and tactically: you can articulate a long-term vision and also roll up your sleeves to solve an immediate operational problem.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data into clear product recommendations that balance customer experience, risk, and profitability.
Experience writing product requirements documents and delivering products in an agile development environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to interface with multiple stakeholders across the organization, with an eye towards building cross-functional collaboration and support.

What Will Set You Apart
Experience with loan servicing platforms, payment processors, or collections systems.
Experience with data visualization tools (Databricks or similar).
Background in consulting, investment banking, or credit risk analysis.
This role is based on our downtown Chicago Office, located in the Merchandise Mart. We highly value collaboration and our hybrid schedule (M, T, Th in-office) enables flexibility to balance work and individual priorities.
Compensation Range:
The base salary range for this job is USD $85,000 - USD $110,000/ Year
Employees new to Avant typically come in below the midpoint of the pay range. The compensation range is based on the level outlined in the job posting, and compensation decisions are dependent on each applicant's experience, skills and abilities.

This role is eligible for additional incentives, including an annual bonus. These rewards are allocated based on level, impact and performance in the role.
